Group Itineraries for Visiting Lichfield

Lichfield is a great place for groups to visit and an ideal base for exploring the area and further afield in Staffordshire and the Midlands.

There is so much to see and do in the region, and here are a few ideas for you to create a great itinerary for your group.

Day 1: Arrive in historical Lichfield and spend the afternoon exploring the city. Visit the magnificent gothic three-spired cathedral, wander the cobbled streets, and discover the history of Lichfield’s famous sons Erasmus Darwin and Samuel Johnson at the many museums.

Day 2: Visit the National Memorial Arboretum, the UK’s year-round Centre of Remembrance. Wander around the 150 acres of woodland, dotted with over 300 memorials paying tribute to those who have fallen. In the afternoon visit Tamworth with a tour of its impressive Norman castle.

Day 3: Explore the nearby Peak District. Visit the market town of Bakewell where you can visit the original Bakewell Pudding Shop. Next head to Buxton with its delightful gardens and magnificent historic buildings before heading to Matlock in the Derwent Valley.

Day 4: Make your way to Stratford-upon-Avon, home of William Shakespeare. Enjoy a boat trip down the River Avon, explore the town and visit the many attractions including Shakespeare’s birthplace.
