Open Monday to Saturday from 5pm you can enjoy great value food, with a huge choice of wines, local ales and drinks. Our menu is sure to tantalise your tastebuds with a choice of homecooked favourites, grills, pizzas, burgers, salads and pasta.

Pre-Theatre Set Menu

If you are off to one of Lichfield's theatres or shows and would like to grab a bite to eat beforehand, then our Pre-Theatre Set Menu is the perfect choice. Available Monday to Saturday from 4.30pm to 7pm, choose two courses for £22, or three courses for £26 per person.

Please note a £10 deposit per person is required when booking a table at The George in the restaurant for Afternoon Tea, Sunday Carvery and for tables over 6. There is no reservation needed to dine in the Lounge Bar or in the courtyard. All payments are non-refundable but are transferable to a new date providing you move your booking 48 hours in advance. Darwin’s at The George is named after Erasmus Darwin (1731 – 1802), one of Lichfield’s most famous sons and self-professed lover of fine food.

The grandfather of Charles, Erasmus Darwin was one of the greatest minds of the 18th century and laid the foundations to the theory of evolution.
